Maplewood EDA approves three-year $20,000-per-year contribution to Rice Larpenter Alliance

Commissioners said the partnership has helped stabilize and revitalize the neighborhood and expressed support for a three‑year commitment to allow the Alliance time to formalize its next funding iteration.
"This brings us up into 2028," one commissioner said in support, noting the 10‑year runway originally envisioned for the effort. Commissioner Lee moved to support continued participation at $20,000 per year for 2026, 2027 and 2028; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Why it matters: The RLA is an interjurisdictional initiative aimed at neighborhood stabilization and shared services across cities and the county; a multi‑year funding commitment signals continued municipal support and gives the Alliance planning certainty.
