Commissioner Boulet presents Maplewood’s oldest-house list; commission sets award deadline and plans outreach

Staff described a nomination schedule for the Maplewood Heritage Award, saying the commission will solicit nominations in February through Maplewood Living and social media and set a deadline of Feb. 27, with the award decision typically made at the March meeting. “I will put a call for people to nominate … make the deadline due by February 27,” the staff member said.
The commission reviewed recruitment needs and said it is down two members; staff encouraged commissioners to recruit residents with preservation-related backgrounds (an archaeologist or similar expertise was noted as desirable). Staff also noted there were no significant demolition permit applications at the moment.
Staff reminded commissioners of several upcoming community items: a board and commission appreciation dinner on Feb. 5 at the North Fire Station (1530 County Road C East, 5–6:30 p.m.), the city’s State of the City date pending between late February and mid‑March, and the commission’s next regular meeting on March 12.
