The Downtown Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the City Commission acted on branding and program contracts on Jan. 6.
Josh Daniels, strategic communications manager, presented results of a focused outreach effort for a CRA logo redesign. Daniels said targeted paid social advertising reached 12,359 people, generated 362 engagements and produced 220 survey completions; by a margin of about 55% to 45% (a difference of roughly 22 votes), respondents favored the brick-design logo that leans toward a historic look and incorporates architectural details from downtown Kissimmee. "So based on this feedback staff recommends that the commission select which logo you'd like to move forward with," Daniels said.
The commission selected the recommended Downtown Kissimmee CRA logo and instructed staff to begin implementation.
Separately, Samaya Singleton (Economic Development) explained that both the Downtown and Vine Street CRAs participate in the Freebie program; the downtown CRA had been inadvertently omitted from a previous contract and staff requested renewal to include both CRAs. The commission approved renewal of the Freebie program contracts for the Downtown and Vine Street CRAs by unanimous voice vote.
Why it matters: The logo selection guides future branding and promotional materials for downtown revitalization. Renewing the Freebie program contract formalizes funding and participation by both CRAs; staff said Downtown provides about 60% of Freebie funding.
Next steps: CRA staff will implement the selected logo across marketing materials and proceed with contract execution for the Freebie program.
