Maplewood council approves six union contracts covering 2026–2028; modest wage adjustments included

City negotiators thanked union representatives and staff for the negotiation process. Staff said the proposed contracts include a general wage adjustment of roughly 3% and step increases in some police positions to meet market conditions; most contracts are two- to three-year agreements. "We have about 15 staff members who... committed to being a part of this process," said Mr. Darrow, describing the collaborative negotiations.
Council approved motions authorizing the mayor and city manager to execute the agreements on behalf of the city. Staff said these contract approvals are intended to create fiscal stability for the next two to three years while the city plans a comprehensive compensation study in 2028.
The contracts were carried by unanimous voice votes and will be implemented according to each agreement’s schedule.
