City awards $921,345 CCMG road contract to Temple & Temple

The Board of Public Works and Safety voted to award the 2026 CCMG neighborhood street resurfacing contract to Temple & Temple after staff and the city’s engineering consultant (JTL) reviewed bids and recommended acceptance of the low bid of $921,345.
Chris Hale (speaker 14) presented the scope for CCMG 2026: Craigmont (Mauser to Clifty Drive), Crozer Avenue (State Road 7 to Cassidy Lane), Broadway (Main to 3rd) and 3rd Street through the Broadway intersection. Hale said the list follows the city’s asset‑management plan and the state asked the city to solicit bids for the package.
Mayor (speaker 1) credited state lawmakers for increased road funds at the state level that will help Madison and other communities increase road investments in 2026. The board moved, seconded and approved the bid award by voice vote.
Board members asked about other high‑priority roads such as Green Road and noted some sections may require more substantial infrastructure work (sidewalks, drainage) before repaving. Hale said Green Road is on the evaluation list but may need additional work beyond a repaving project.
The contract award will proceed to contracting and construction scheduling; staff said the larger state funding increase will support Madison’s pavement program this year.
