Neighborhood group seeks land cleanup and playscape; callers endorse Carolyn Hughes and debate voting methods

Cindy Dara and another caller (recorded on the roll as "You Matter") both urged listeners to support Carolyn Hughes as a write-in candidate and criticized ranked-choice voting, promoting approval voting instead. Dara corrected an earlier statement on filing deadlines for write-in candidates and said she would attend a presentation in favor of approval voting at the main library at 6:00 p.m. "If you will go to electionscience.org... this would improve our voting," Dara said.
Another caller recounted problems with blight-ticket service and alleged staff at Councilmember Mary Sheffield's office had branded the caller a liar; the caller urged first- and fourteenth-amendment training for city staff to prevent retaliation against constituents. These remarks were made during the public comment portion of the meeting; the transcript records no committee response or subsequent action.
