"There could be dogs in there. There could be ... a kid snatching to get raped," the resident said, urging immediate action. She said she had emailed several council offices and received no substantive response.
Mayor Benson replied that this was the first time he had heard of the property and that he would look into it. "We'll look again, more than happy to work on this," he said, adding the council budgets for boarding up open properties and that staff routinely work to address these complaints. The resident said she planned to continue reporting vacant properties in District 3 and would follow up with council offices.
No formal motion was made during public comment, but the mayor's office indicated it would coordinate with relevant departments to address the resident's complaint.
