After the HDAB presentation and public testimony, committee members handled remaining business and new contracts.
A motion was made and adopted by unanimous consent to send the Secondary Street Sign package (all 23 nominees) to the full City Council "without recommendation," which allows the full body to select the five honorees. Separately, the committee voted to receive and file several memoranda, including Member Leticia Johnson’s audit request memo and a staff report on senior buildings with HUD contracts.
The committee also agreed to schedule returns on outstanding items: 6.1 (one week) was set for a one-week return; items 6.2 and 6.3 (property sale / development agreement matters) were postponed for two weeks at staff request. Contract item 7.3 (CDBG-funded contract number 6007527) was sent to formal session with a recommendation to approve, while item 7.1 (an ARPA-funded home repair services amendment) was postponed to the end of the agenda for later discussion.
Member Leticia Johnson asked staff whether additional ARPA dollars in item 7.1 would go directly to home repairs or toward administrative fees; the committee asked HRD staff to provide those details when the item returns. The chair recessed the committee to the call of the chair at the end of the session.
What happens next: Several items will reappear on future committee agendas with requested clarifications; the Secondary Street nominations will appear on the Council’s formal session agenda next Tuesday for final selection.
