Residents press for recreation resources; one caller threatens recall of Councilmember Scott Benson

During the public comment period three callers spoke.
William M. Davis urged the council to prioritize recreation for District 7, saying the district has no functioning recreation center and requesting mobile swim programs and play leaders to engage youth. "We didn't have a recreation center in District 7," Davis said, urging more activities for young people.
A second caller identifying himself as "Black Bag Road" made allegations about voting irregularities and named officials including Dennis Westby, Lena Avery Walker and Daniel Baxter; he said he would "expose" the matter. The committee did not pursue factual claims during the public-comment period.
The final caller, Dante Smith, said he would initiate a recall petition against Councilmember Scott Benson if Benson did not make changes in his district and said he had waited months for responses from offices on development concerns at the Kronos Concrete Facility. Chair and council members responded that newly elected members may need time to set up offices and encouraged constituents to submit meeting details so staff could follow up.
Chair and members emphasized constituent follow-up: the chair invited the callers to provide meeting dates and contact information and the committee suggested contacting council offices directly for expedited responses.
The committee did not take any formal action in response to the comments at this meeting.
