Duchesne County rejects Enterprise Fleet Management proposal, opts to retain in-house control

Representatives from Enterprise Fleet Management met with Duchesne County commissioners on March 30 to review options for outsourcing fleet purchasing and maintenance. Commissioners expressed concern about relinquishing buying and maintenance control and about the county’s ability in years with limited capital to purchase new vehicles.
Hunter Tangle and Ryan Owens of Enterprise addressed commissioners’ concerns and described how their program would work. Following discussion, Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved not to enter into an Enterprise Fleet Management agreement; Commissioner Tracy Killian seconded the motion and it passed unanimously (3–0). Commissioners said they prefer to retain in-house control and discussed the benefits of local management and budgetary flexibility.
No contract was signed; the decision preserves the county’s current fleet-buying and maintenance processes.
