Maywood board approves $1.64 million warrant list, omnibus payments and special-use parking ordinance

Trustee I. Brandon moved and Trustee M. Jones seconded approval of the warrant list for payments through Dec. 24, 2020. The motion passed unanimously. The warrant list and omnibus approvals included: Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance premiums ($265,752.65); City of Chicago water services ($302,224.12); the purchase of Panasonic Toughbooks for the Police Department ($8,317.00); Hancock Engineering fees for Washington Boulevard Phase II ($87,560.36); and payment to M&J Asphalt Paving Company for 2020 MFT roadway improvements ($18,555.56). Other approved payments covered phone services, fuel, street-light repair, TIF professional services, and health/dental trust premiums.
As part of the omnibus agenda the Board also approved an ordinance described in the agenda as "An Ordinance Approving a Special Use Relative to Parking in a Residential Front Yard (1421 South 18th Avenue)." The meeting minutes do not record an ordinance number; the cover memo referenced Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd. The omnibus motion carrying these items passed with all present voting aye.
Mayor Edwenna Perkins opened the meeting with a short theme: "A shift is coming; things are changing in our favor, when the people get a mind to work." There were no public comments recorded at the Jan. 5 meeting.
The Board adjourned at 7:56 p.m. following the omnibus approvals.
