On transportation, the Mayor said he, Councilman Nowrude and Councilwoman McCraw met with MnDOT staff to discuss potential projects and traffic-counting devices for intersections (Highway 32, Highway 59, Atlantic and lights near the old hospital on Labrie). He said counters will be placed when snow melts and that the city will receive maps for department heads and council review.
On municipal services and scheduling, Councilman Nobred clarified that garbage pickup is scheduled on the 23rd (not the 16th) and reminded the council that city offices will be closed on President's Day, Feb. 16, affecting service. The Mayor also listed upcoming committee meetings and noted he will be absent for the Feb. 17 council meeting; Councilman Steve Nalberg will preside.
On budget planning, the Mayor said staff and business leaders have discussed the fiscal pressures shaping the 2027 budget and asked staff to break items down for committee review in advance of the budget cycle. He also said phishing-awareness notifications will be issued to city employees later in the week.
