Thief River Falls — The Thief River Falls City Council authorized the City Administrator to sign a bill of sale, acknowledgement and lease documents for a Western Star dump truck priced at $185,125.50 and approved staff to complete lease paperwork when it becomes available.
Travis, a city staff presenter, told the council: "We've located a single unit for the cost of $185,125.5." He explained the purchase had been planned in 2021 with an estimated total of $150,000; "That’s gonna be a little short," he said, noting inflation increased costs. Budget discussion in the meeting indicated $100,000 is currently available and a $50,000 payment had been slated for 2026 under the prior plan; staff said the city would lease the remaining balance.
The council moved and approved the authorization by voice vote. The motion directs the City Administrator to sign the bill of sale and complete lease documentation when details are available.
Separately during the consent and finance items the council approved certification of unpaid sidewalk snow-removal charges to be placed on property owners' 2026 property taxes; staff said the amounts are listed in the RCA (the report included with the meeting packet).
