Budget committee adopts FY2027 calendar and hearing schedule for council consideration

Key items spelled out by LPD staff: the mayor will present the proposed budget on Monday, March 9 (March 7 falls on a Saturday, so the presentation moves to the next business day); standing committee start times will shift to 9 a.m. for morning committees from Wednesday, March 11 through Monday, April 6 to accommodate budget hearings; committee meetings during that window will be limited to one hour; and a public budget hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday, March 30.
LPD staff said a preliminary calendar will be distributed to agencies and council on or about Feb. 11, with a final calendar expected by Wednesday, Feb. 25. The committee approved the motion to move the resolutions to formal session "without objection," and LPD will circulate the final schedule to departments and council members.
The committee’s action is procedural: the items will next be considered at the formal council session where final approval of the resolutions would be recorded.
