Malvern Hill residents oppose proposal to build low-income housing on Rogel Park

"Our community remains opposed to the proposal to build low income housing on a portion of the Rogale Park near 7 Mile Road," said Celeste Turner, who said residents had participated in planning from the start but believe the approach has shifted away from community inclusion. Turner said the planning department changed zoning without notifying residents directly, and that a meeting she expected to attend had already occurred. She said the association has started a petition with 129 signatures to keep the site as green space and will present signatures at the next public hearing.
Turner asked the committee to ensure the community receives a formal update and adequate notice for future meetings. Committee members acknowledged the concern and said they would include Rogel Park in a forthcoming parks update and follow up with planning staff.
