Detroit City Council on March 3 adopted a resolution recognizing Women in Construction Week 2026 and invited local members of the National Association of Women in Construction to city events.
Councilmember Gabriela Santiago Romero, the sponsor, highlighted that the organization promotes employment, training and community development and noted a list of events for the week including a charity bed build and panel discussions. Luan Counts and NAWIC Detroit representatives described a schedule posted at nawickdetroit.com and encouraged council participation.
Councilmembers praised the resolution, attached a waiver and approved the item without objection. The clerk will provide copies of the resolution to the mayor and the council as directed in the resolution text.
What happens next: NAWIC Detroit will continue this week’s events in the community; the clerk will distribute the official resolution to the mayor and council offices.
