The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 26 unanimously approved a suite of administrative and budget actions, including authorization for closing documents tied to a courtroom remodel loan and several personnel and procurement measures.
The board voted to adopt a resolution for the Certificate of Arbitrage related to the Courtroom Remodel Installment Purchase Agreement and authorized Chair Mike Patrick to sign the closing documents. The motion was moved by Commissioner Austin Kimberling and seconded by Commissioner Daryl Schroeder; the roll call vote was YES from Kimberling, Kling, Patrick, Schroeder and St. Louis-Scott.
In personnel action the board approved moving a part-time shelter position to full time. That motion, moved by Kimberling and seconded by Commissioner John Kling, passed by unanimous roll call.
The board awarded a bid of $1,500 for courthouse summer flower planters to Molly's Nest (moved by Kimberling, seconded by Kling), and declined a union grievance filed on behalf of employee Donna DesJardins (motion to deny by Kimberling, seconded by Kling). Both motions passed unanimously.
On routine fiscal business the board approved regular bills totaling $146,095.80 (moved by Kimberling, seconded by Schroeder) and approved budget amendment #26-06 for $3,500 (moved by Kimberling, seconded by St. Louis-Scott). Both measures passed by unanimous roll call.
The meeting also included routine opening actions: the board approved the meeting agenda as amended and the minutes of the Feb. 12, 2026 regular meeting. With communications (the January bank report) acknowledged, the board adjourned at 4:56 p.m.
Actions taken at the meeting were recorded by Chief Deputy Clerk Stephanie LaTour.
