Parks, Recreation & Golf Commission presents annual update as commissioners call for participation

Desiree Martinelli and Bob Grandinetti presented the Parks, Recreation & Golf Commission annual update to the council, saying the advisory body was converted to a commission by ordinance 27‑10 and now has 13 members including two council liaisons. Co‑chairs highlighted work on the PRG master plan, CIP updates, recently opened parks (including Caillou Park and Veterans Park), subcommittees for golf‑cart policy and event promotion, and partnerships with the youth commission.
Commissioners described outreach activities, a daily work plan at each meeting, and events supported in the prior year including Fourth Fest and Run with the Buffalo. Commissioners and council members emphasized recruitment and said serving on commissions is a way for residents to learn about the city, influence projects and give back.
Council asked commissioners about recruitment strategies and encouragement for residents to serve. Councilmember Dukes and others thanked commissioners for their service.
