Dawn Theater Governance Board records resignation, approves April ArtWorks event and hears organ-install update

The Dawn Theater Governance Board on Jan. 27 noted the resignation of longtime member Ron Scholl and discussed next steps for finding a replacement. Chair James Brandon asked that any nominations "have a vested interest in TIFA and/or seeing the Dawn Theater succeed" and requested nominations be submitted to him.
The board approved an event application from Connie Sexton for the ArtWorks Community Event, set for Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Chris Bahash moved to approve the event; Felicia Finch seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The board also recorded procedural action on the consent agenda: Tim Sullivan moved to approve the meeting agenda at the start of the session; Felicia Finch seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
Under old business, Chair Brandon said the Targeted Development Committee will meet Jan. 29 to review remaining candidates in the Dawn Theater manager search. Board members also received an update on the organ installation: the blower room and wind pipe installation are complete, Heath Electric must complete the blower hookup, and Weiler will be contacted for final touches when those steps are ready.
During public comment, Jack McLain asked whether recent donations the Friends reported were designated for the organ or were general gifts; Mary Wolfram confirmed they were general and suggested the plaque location should be in the lobby. At the close of the meeting, Chair Brandon adjourned the session at 6:25 p.m. and noted the next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 24, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
