The Hutchinson City Council will hold public hearings at its March 24 meeting to decide whether to accept bids, award contracts and adopt assessment rolls for two street projects: the Edmonton Avenue improvement and the city's 2026 street improvement program.
City Administrator Yannick Hutchinson said the Edmonton Avenue agenda item includes acceptance of a bid and awarding of a contract, followed by adoption of an assessment roll. The council will treat the 2026 street improvement projects similarly: accepting bids, awarding contracts and adopting assessment rolls for properties directly affected by those projects.
Hutchinson told residents that property owners who are directly impacted “should have received a notice” and are invited to address the council with questions or concerns during the hearings. Adoption of assessment rolls would set the amounts to be charged to affected properties; Hutchinson did not specify dollar amounts or the number of properties in the transcript.
The hearings are scheduled as part of the March 24 agenda; if the council accepts bids and awards contracts, those actions would allow project work to proceed under the awarded agreements and assessments to be finalized.
