Hutchinson council to consider North Maywall apartment plat, sewer project and grant application on March 24 consent agenda

City Administrator Yannick Hutchinson said the Hutchinson City Council will take up a slate of consent items at its March 24 meeting, including a final plat for a proposed North Maywall Apartments development, approvals related to a sewer-lining project, and authorization to pursue a state grant for enhanced lake recreation access.
The consent agenda — typically handled as a single motion when items are noncontroversial — also includes consideration of consulting services for a 2026 compensation study and a business license for Mandy Thodey of Haven Massage and Wellness at 35 Main Street North. Hutchinson told listeners these items are usually “pretty straightforward.”
The council is scheduled to consider Resolution 16010, which would adopt findings and reasons supporting approval of the final plat for North Maywall Apartments, a project proposed at the former Burns Manor site on the north side of town, following a favorable planning commission recommendation. The consent packet also includes items authorizing preparation of a report and calling a hearing for a sewer-lining project.
Hutchinson said the council will consider Resolution 16017, a resolution supporting pursuit of Minnesota’s Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund grant to help fund an Otter and Camel Lakes accessible recreation opportunities project; approval would allow staff to move forward with the application.
Two appointments are on the consent agenda: Jeremy Crosby to the Hutchinson Utilities Commission and the reappointment of Priscilla Rausch to the senior advisory board. The agenda also places two ordinances in new business that would vacate portions of easements and rights of way tied to proposed housing and development projects.
“You're welcome to attend here in person or watch it on HCVN,” Hutchinson said, inviting public observation and participation. The council is expected to act on the consent package as a group unless a member asks to remove an item for separate discussion.
