The Carlsbad Planning Commission voted 6‑0 on Dec. 18 to approve the Juniper Coast Homes tentative tract map, plan development permit and coastal development permit for a 0.869‑acre site at 270 Juniper Avenue, allowing construction of 21 condominium units including one set aside for very‑low‑income households under state density‑bonus provisions.
Kyle Van Lewin, introduced to the commission to present the staff report, said the project proposes seven new structures — five triplexes, one duplex and one four‑unit building — with three floor plans, two‑car garages for each unit and five guest parking spaces. Van Lewin said the applicant is requesting one concession and eight waivers to local development standards; staff found the project consistent with the general plan and the required discretionary findings, subject to conditions.
