County to repurpose vacancy for 9‑1‑1 communications system administrator, office says it will save money

"There's no cost to the county, but it would . . . be a cost savings on the projection of $7,900 this year and $27,000 for FY27," Captain Deak said, explaining the revised position grade and duties are more aligned with IT/communications work.
Commissioners asked whether the savings accrue to IT or the sheriff's budget; the captain said the 10% returns to IT this year. Commissioner Duncan moved to approve the position change (position 303‑30); the motion passed on a recorded affirmative vote. The change was presented as a funding and classification adjustment rather than a new line‑item appropriation.
