The Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees unanimously approved the promotion of Officer Christopher (surname variously recorded in the transcript as Diori/Doery/Dury) to the rank of police sergeant at its Dec. 16 meeting and administered the oath of office.
A trustee outlined the officer’s qualifications, saying the officer "has over 22 years full of experience as a police officer," noting roles including detective, investigator and evidence custodian and that he has served at Sleepy Hollow for roughly four-and-a-half years. "Chris has become my go to and a go to for many of my patrol staff," the trustee said, praising his leadership and mentoring of patrol personnel.
Following a motion to promote and a roll-call vote, the vote was recorded in favor by all attending trustees. During the swearing-in the officer repeated the oath: "I, Christopher Doery... Having been duly appointed to the position of sergeant in the village of Sleepy Hollow... Do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States... and the ordinances of the village of Sleepy Hollow." The board and attendees offered congratulations.
The promotion was described as being within the budget and salary ranges established in the chief’s memo; trustees said there were no objections and the motion carried.
