Mayor Bill Heidemann read a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and commended CASA of Denton County volunteers and staff for their advocacy.
"Therefore, be it resolved that I, Bill Heidemann, mayor of City Of Corinth, and on behalf of the current city council, do hereby recognize the month of April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month," Heidemann said as he presented the proclamation.
Bethany Hartung, volunteer recruiter for CASA of Denton County, accepted the proclamation and asked for community support. "Unfortunately, 9 children were removed from the city of Corinth this year and or in 2025, and they were placed into our care," Hartung said. She said CASA serves every child in care and that the organization currently has 214 volunteers, and requested more volunteers to help support children in foster care.
The mayor thanked CASA volunteers for their work on behalf of Corinth's children and said the city commends CASA's efforts.
