Trustee (S4) said the subcommittee met with chiefs from Comba, Broadmoor and Daly City to discuss safety procedures and outreach about traveling to and from school. Superintendent McCulloch said the chiefs created a joint message that would be included in the district newsletter and shared on the chiefs’ social media; trustees planned a follow-up subcommittee meeting on Aug. 26.
Officer Jaime of the Dance City Police Department’s Traffic Unit urged students and families to “always use a crosswalk” and to avoid playing in the street. Officer Bermudez of the Broad River Police Department encouraged students to travel in groups and to report suspicious behavior to school staff or by calling 911.
Trustees emphasized proactive, community-oriented approaches — including assemblies and school resource officer visits — and suggested involving the mayor and city partners to create consistent citywide messaging around the highest-risk transition time (roughly 6–7 p.m.).
