She laid out a provisional-appointment timeline: advertise immediately, accept applications through Sept. 2 at 3 p.m., and hold public interviews at the Sept. 10 meeting.
Trustee (S1) moved to proceed with a provisional appointment; Trustee (S2) seconded. Trustee (S1) stated, “I motion that we go with the provisional appointment.” The board then conducted a roll-call vote; the motion passed unanimously. The board also decided not to form an ad hoc committee to vet applicants, directing district administration to verify registration status and manage the application posting.
Why it matters: A provisional appointment avoids the near-term expense of a special election but leaves the district to select a temporary member who will serve until the next regular board election. Superintendent McCulloch told trustees the administration would publish application materials and that all application materials would be public and posted on the district website.
