Toms River facilities update: ELC move by July 2, Beechwood roof bid June 6, rooftop hatch repairs recommended

District facilities staff updated the Buildings & Grounds committee on a series of moves and maintenance projects across the Toms River district.
Facilities Director (speaker 2) said the district is preparing for mass moves after graduation to consolidate the Early Learning Center into North Dover and expects the program to be up and running by July 2 when summer programming begins. "We are in preparation for the day after graduation of starting these mass moves of the ELC into North Dover, having then up and running by July 2," the facilities director said.
Several capital and maintenance projects were previewed: the JVAC fabric replacement permits are under review with anticipated completion in October–early November; the Beechwood roof bid will open on June 6 with work to begin soon after school is out; and facilities staff recommended replacing three or four rooftop hatches (estimated at about $4,000 each), prioritizing Intermediate North because the hatch has led to workers bumping their heads.
Staff also said the district is obtaining quotes to address water‑service work in front of High School South and hopes to coordinate with the water company to keep costs efficient. No formal procurement decisions or votes occurred at the meeting; staff said some work will proceed as scheduling allows and after standard procurement steps such as bid openings.
The committee thanked facilities staff and moved to open public comment on other agenda items.
