"We certainly wanted to take the opportunity tonight to highlight all of the amazing things that are happening in our schools every day," Gold said.
District administrators and board members praised the work of teachers, students and families. A district official (speaker 2) noted the role of the foundation and local donors in securing scholarships and said each high school has "well over $1,000,000 a piece for student merit scholarships and local scholarships toward their academics." Board members also singled out Intermediate East’s drama program for helping fifth graders transition into intermediate school and for teaching responses to bullying.
The presentation was framed as a culminating highlight for the year; the committee did not take formal action on curriculum items at the meeting.
