Town Administrator Neil Henry submitted a 90-day retirement notice effective June 30, 2026, and the council accepted the notice during the meeting.
The clerk read Henry's letter; council members expressed appreciation for his service and the council approved a motion to accept the letter. Members commented on the difficulty of replacing the administrator and on next steps for transition.
Separately, the council approved multiple street-closure requests for community events. An email from Boonton Main Street Executive Director Natalie Spingold requested Main Street closures for June 5 and Oct. 2 (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.) for scheduled events; the council approved both requests and noted that organizers will coordinate with the county and local police. The council also approved a September street closure (Sept. 27) for another Main Street event and a West Main Street closure for the Trick-or-Treat Trail on Oct. 17; for some closures staff reported that county approvals were pending.
Council members asked whether event costs remain covered by grant funding; staff said they would confirm funding sources and follow up.
