Beardstown council files March financial and ambulance reports, approves street closure for May church event

The Beardstown City Council on April 16, 2024 dispensed with the reading of minutes from the April 2 meeting and approved them on a motion from Alderperson Dawn Seward, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin. The council also approved the consent agenda on a motion from Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Lisa Buhlig, taken under the Omnibus Vote Designation and passed by roll call.
City Clerk Brian Ruch reported March cash receipts of $697,458.11 and cash disbursements of $638,474.76; year‑to‑date receipts and disbursements were reported as $13,414,566.31 and $13,427,521.64, respectively. The treasurer’s reported fund balances included: General Fund $2,761,942.42; Special Revenue Funds $3,451,177.95; Bond Sinking Funds $716,607.59; Water Increment Fund $213,266.79; Adequate Assurance Fund $114,499.50; ARPA Grant $745,100.41; Harbor Development Fund $119,352.48; Marina Campground Fund $1,788.22.
Overtime and part‑time pay for March were reported by department: Ambulance $20,528.00; Fire $4,495.33; Police $6,197.33; Public Works/Cemetery/City Hall $4,718.16. Ambulance reports for March listed Beardstown with 44 total calls, charges of $54,080.40 and collections of $30,255.00; Virginia reported 31 total calls, charges of $33,133.60 and collections of $17,839.69.
Alderperson Dawn Seward moved, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin, to approve a request from St. Alexis Church to close Sixth Street between Washington Street and Lafayette Street on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; the council approved the closure by voice vote. With no further business, Alderperson Mary Davis moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin; the meeting adjourned at 6:41 p.m.
