Staff said the budget had funds available because three vehicles were approved for the budget year but only two were purchased earlier, leaving some carryover to cover the difference.
The chair said that when a chairman gives emergency approval, the board typically ratifies the action at the next meeting. A commissioner moved to approve the vehicle replacement, a second followed, and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioners and staff noted relief that no one was injured in the incident and asked staff to prioritize finding a replacement that meets pursuit and safety standards.
