Presenter says VFW ramp, accessible restroom restored upstairs access

A presenter told the council that the Veterans of Foreign Wars post’s interior wheelchair lift had become unreliable and that local volunteers and businesses helped install an east-side wheelchair ramp and an accessible restroom to restore use of the upstairs.
"The VFW's interior wheelchair ramp was basically outdated, and it quit working for the most part," the presenter said, describing the problem that prompted the work. The presenter said the post worked with local contractors — naming Kingfir's, Iron Crafters and a local door company — and that the firms and volunteers provided critical help to keep the building in operation.
The presenter said the earlier back ramp installed five or six years ago remained in place but the new east-side ramp and the accessible restroom allow the upstairs to be used for community functions. "So, kudos to Kingfir's. Without them, we really would have been in a bind," the presenter said, thanking the businesses and volunteers who assisted.
Council members responded with thanks for the volunteers and noted the city values maintained civic spaces; no formal action was required beyond the presentation.
The presentation was part of the meeting’s communications segment and provided council members with a brief account of local accessibility work and community partnerships.
