The Planning Commission approved a design‑review amendment for exterior changes at 1317 Paloma Avenue, with Commissioner Comerado recused from the matter for owning property within 500 feet.
Staff said the project amends a prior approval for a new two‑story single‑unit dwelling and that construction is nearing completion. Designer Alan (identified in the hearing) told commissioners the team reinstated decorative brackets and trusses in some locations, eliminated decorative shutters on the south elevation to improve balance, and removed a false chimney detail. He also said clients requested removal of decorative trusses from the bottom of the garage and the rear elevation because of cable/camera work in the garage gable area.
Commissioners discussed the requested changes, agreed the revisions addressed earlier concerns, and supported removing the truss at the front of the garage and on the rear elevation. Commissioner Seay moved to approve the project as revised; Vice Chair Horan seconded. With Commissioner Comerado recused, the motion passed 6‑0‑0‑1.
The decision is appealable under the city’s rules and appeal fee requirements.
