Trustee Whimper read the resolution on behalf of the board, recounting Roberts's early life in Canton, Mississippi, her family's church leadership, work in the Chicago black business community after migrating north during the 1960s, and her long-standing role in the Broadview community. The proclamation noted Roberts has lived in Broadview for 22 years and that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren collectively hold more than 25 academic degrees, including advanced and doctoral degrees.
The proclamation concluded with the text of the village's formal recognition signed by Mayor Katrina Thompson and affixed with the village seal in April 2026. Trustees and the mayor offered birthday congratulations during the meeting.
