Council approves consent agenda after claims total is corrected

The Granite Falls City Council approved its consent agenda at the Feb. 19 meeting after Deputy City Manager Jeff Balentine explained a revision to the claims register.
Balentine told the council the claims total listed in the agenda, $1,532,800.23, had been revised on the check register to $1,544,812.94. Councilmember Glenn moved to approve the consent agenda with that change; Councilmember Straughn seconded and the motion carried.
The consent agenda included routine claims and payroll items. The payroll claims covered Jan. 16–31, 2025, totaling $152,157.29. No roll-call tally was recorded in the minutes beyond the notation “Carried.”
Deputy City Manager Balentine also used the staff-report portion of the meeting to praise staff work on passport services and to thank Deputy City Clerk Carole Williams for her assistance.
The council’s next regular meeting will include a staff recommendation on crack‑sealing bids, which Public Works Director Charles White said came in lower than expected and will be brought back on March 5.
