Council approves $2.0M contract for 2026 waterline replacements in Westlake, Irving/Hazel and Miramonte areas

The City and County of Broomfield approved Resolution 2026‑06 to award a construction agreement to Diamond Contracting Corporation for the 2026 waterline replacement program. Public Works staff explained the work covers three primary areas: Westlake Drive (~1,320 feet of pipe installed in 1974; valve and hydrant work), Irving Street/Hazel Court (~1,400 feet of pipe, 1974), and the Miramonte/Marimani condominium area (~2,300 feet of pipe installed in 1972) where staff will also relocate approximately 82 meters from inside units to exterior locations to meet current standards.
The low responsive bid (including a 10% contingency) totaled approximately $2,000,602.43; staff said the project fits within the adopted 2026 budget (~$3M for the program). Projected timing calls for a late spring 2026 start with work to be completed by year‑end. Staff also confirmed plans to coordinate traffic control, send postcards to affected residents within 1,000 feet of the projects, deploy variable message signs and phase the Miramonte condo work in coordination with the HOA. Council approved the resolution unanimously.
