Pierce County Council approves consent agenda; executive signed ordinances to begin condemnation for two road projects

The Pierce County Council on Jan. 27 approved its consent agenda and heard announcements that the county executive signed two ordinances authorizing condemnation proceedings for two county road projects.

The council’s vice chair moved to approve the consent agenda — which included one set of minutes, two grant applications and one settlement motion — and the council adopted the motion on a roll call, 7 ayes, 0 nays. “With 7 ayes, 0 nays, the motion is adopted,” the chair said after the clerk read the roll call.

Chair’s announcements following the vote noted that on Jan. 23 the county executive signed two ordinances authorizing the prosecutor to commence condemnation proceedings. As read during the meeting, the ordinances were identified in the transcript as “ordinance 20 25 dash 5 35 s” authorizing action for County Road project 5 8 4 2 (described as 120th Street East), and “ordinance number 20 25 dash 5 6 6” for County Road project 5 7 6 9 (Lackey Road–Jackson Lake Road). The chair presented those as executive-signed actions rather than items for council action at this meeting.

The consent agenda vote was moved by the vice chair and seconded by the chair. The clerk recorded votes of the seven council members present: Denson, Morell, Herrera, Kuver, Ayala, Yambe and Hitchen, all voting aye.

No proclamations or resolutions were presented at the meeting, and the chair noted there were no ordinances or resolutions on the council’s agenda for this session.

The council adjourned at the close of other business.
