Mr. Miles provided an update on the Inglewood High School rebuild, telling the board that abatement work is underway and full construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026.
Miles said the district has held the project budget at $232,000,000 "for some time now," and that the plan calls for roughly 53 new classrooms, two CTE buildings dedicated to pathways and multiple design packages submitted to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and other state reviewers. He said package 1 (the largest, all new construction) was submitted in April and additional packages are pending; DSA comments on package 1 were expected Nov. 6 and staff planned to address them quickly.
Miles described current activity as abatement and hazardous‑materials removal intended to accelerate demolition once state approvals are complete. He said two existing buildings (the gymnasium and the auditorium) will remain and receive modernization work, while the rest of the site will be rebuilt. The team anticipates the program will finish by 2027 if state review and approvals proceed on schedule.
Miles noted that the design includes dedicated special‑education classrooms within each academy and that the project is being delivered in multiple procurement packages. He told the board that work is being coordinated with contractors and architects and that the district is planning outreach and banner signage to reassure the community during demolition and construction.
