At its April 7 meeting the Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved a broad consent agenda that included multiple budget amendments, several facility contracts and administrative housekeeping items.
County staff summarized more than a dozen budget amendments across departments. Staff said solid-waste payroll line items were realigned through fiscal-year end (Budget amendment 309), the finance office recognized revenue tied to literacy salary reimbursements (319), EMS will use Medicaid cost-settlement proceeds to pay taxes and registration on recently purchased ambulances (320), and several sheriff's-office amendments (321, 326, 332) adjust overtime and payroll lines; library donations and public-health grants were also included. "This is to recognize excess revenues ... with the Medicaid cost settlement and the use of these funds to pay for tax and tags on their newly purchased ambulances," staff said when describing the EMS amendment.
On capital and facilities work, the board approved awarding the roof removal and replacement at 226–224 East Walnut Street to B & M Roofing; the low bid was reported at $286,789. Facilities staff also presented a motion to relocate an old gel cooler/freezer to the Maxwell Center for reuse, and a motion to reserve Chestnut Street lot spaces for county service vehicles and create a handicap space.
The Jetport advisory board recommended a qualified engineering and planning firm for airport projects; staff asked the commissioners to award the professional airport engineering, planning and consulting services contract to Ardura (the vendor name appears in the record with variant spellings). Commissioners asked staff to clarify the firm's scope — construction-phase engineering, grant applications, drainage and apron/runway work — and staff confirmed FAA-engineering requirements for work in FAA-controlled areas.
The board also approved moving the Wayne County Public Schools Library Learning Studio to 426 West Pine Street (the former School Street School) to allow planning for summer programming.
