Palatka planning board unanimously approves annexation and rezoning for 404 Mission Road

On April 7 the City of Palatka Planning Board voted unanimously to annex a 0.39-acre parcel at 404 Mission Road and rezone it from Putnam County single-family to City of Palatka residential two-family (R-2).

Planning staff recommended approval, saying the annexation meets Florida Statute 171’s contiguity requirement, that there is water capacity to serve the property, and that the proposed future land-use amendment aligns with the city’s comprehensive plan. "Staff recommends approval of the request to annex the approximately 0.39 acre property into the city," planning staff member Renee Brown said during the presentation.

The applicant, Jonathan Izer, told the board the adjacent three parcels are already annexed and on city water and that the request would make the holdings consistent: "The ones above it, the other 3 parcels are already annexed and on city water, and those are ours. So we just we're just trying to make it all the same," Izer said.

Chase Barnes moved to approve the annexation; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The board then approved two related motions — to amend the future land-use map from Putnam County urban service to City of Palatka residential medium and to rezone the parcel to City of Palatka R-2 — each by unanimous voice vote. Earl Wallace was recorded absent for the meeting.

The approvals complete the local land-use decisions recorded in the meeting; staff indicated they will prepare any necessary paperwork to effect the annexation and zoning change.
