Inglewood Unified reports districtwide LCAP gains; City Honors and LaTijera cite test-score and program improvements

The Inglewood Unified School District presented its midyear Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) update on Feb. 18, telling the board the district is showing early implementation gains and that no district-level indicators are currently in the red.
"For the first time in years, Inglewood Unified School District has no categories in the red," said Dr. Danielle Goolsbee, the district presenter, summarizing the California Dashboard results and the LCAP's three priorities: standards-aligned instruction, safe and inclusive learning environments, and stronger family partnerships. Goolsbee explained the midyear report shows where spending and implementation are on track and where actions are minimally implemented and may need reallocation or course correction.
The district-level presentation outlined how the dashboard measures subgroups on multiple indicators — English language arts, math, chronic absenteeism, graduation and more — and reviewed the LCAP expenditure matrix showing what was budgeted and what had been spent as of Jan. 30. Goolsbee and assistant superintendent Dr. Bernadette Lucas said staff will monitor minimally implemented actions and shift funds or carryover as necessary after estimated-actuals are prepared in April.
City Honors' assistant principal Melissa Williams told the board her school has seen improvements across the dashboard, including moves from green to blue in some college-and-career and ELA indicators. "We have a lot of blue," Williams said, noting a 90%-plus graduation metric, new AP offerings including AP Biology, partnerships with El Camino College for dual enrollment and a newly launched cybersecurity pathway that could lead students to industry certifications.
LaTijera (presented as LaTierra/LaTijera in meeting materials) principal Robbie Tate reported year-over-year SBAC gains at her TK-8 campus: ELA proficiency rose from 43% to 55% and math made double-digit gains (reported increase from 17% to 28%). Tate said LaTijera has expanded wraparound services, Saturday English-learner academies and tutoring partnerships (UCLA tutors and HEY tutors) and reported the school has spent more than half of its Learning Recovery Block Grant allocation so far.
Board members asked for additional detail on outcomes such as college matriculation and cost breakdowns for district trips; Goolsbee said counselors compile matriculation data and that some expenditures had not yet posted as of the Jan. 30 snapshot. Board members also pressed staff to confirm minimal implementation items before reallocating funds.
Next steps: staff will finalize estimated actuals in April to determine carryover amounts and proposed reallocation, and present more detailed college matriculation figures to the board.
