The Chico Unified School District board voted unanimously Oct. 15 to approve public disclosure of the financial elements of a compensation agreement as required by Assembly Bill 2756. Staff said the locally negotiated formula yields a 1.17% compensation increase for the year, effective in employees’ October paychecks, with retroactive payments to cover July–September paid in November.
District staff told the board the 1.17% cost is just under $2 million and that the district will use ongoing LCFF revenue and reserves (including health reserves) to cover the costs. Staff emphasized financial sustainability and said the increase would not create ongoing fiscal concerns in their assessment.
There was no extended debate; the board moved, seconded and approved the disclosure item by unanimous voice vote after the motion from Member Olsen and a second from Member Robinson.
What this means: AB 2756 requires local education agencies to make public the financial elements of compensation agreements; the board’s approval confirms the district’s compliance and authorizes the retroactive payments described by staff.
