Operations staff (Boggs) described several agenda items: a request for right‑of‑way approval to allow Union Gas access to run a transmission line near the Milton pre‑K site; a budgeted plan to refinish the Huntington East Middle School gym floor (work typically requires several weeks of downtime and is usually scheduled for summer); and the district’s use of American Geotechnical Services as testing oversight on the Capital High School STEM lab and cafeteria construction to verify concrete and site work meet specifications. Boggs also highlighted a recent in‑house drainage installation completed by the maintenance and grounds crew, noting the work saved the district substantial costs and praising retiring crew member Kent Gross for his skills.
Board members asked scheduling questions about gym floor timing and the presenters said dates will be secured when a purchase order is issued; the presenters said contractors typically schedule such work in summer to avoid prolonged disruption to activities and practices.
The board approved moving the Central City partial roof replacement onto the CEFP as a high‑priority project later in the meeting; the superintendent also reported on the Ona Elementary major improvement grant process and ongoing work on the Cabell Midland cafeteria foundation.
