Board approves routine minutes, multiple consent resolutions; superintendent appointments announced

The Roxbury Township Board of Education approved a slate of consent items during the regular meeting, completing routine and committee-recommended business.
Key approvals and procedural actions included: acceptance of the regular and executive session minutes for Oct. 14; finance resolutions numbered 1 through 20; personnel resolutions 1 through 17 (as amended); and education resolutions 1 through 8. A roll-call vote was recorded by the board clerk and each motion was announced as passing.
On personnel and appointments, the board approved a reorganization resolution naming the assistant business administrator as the district's protection and permanency/homeless liaison for the 2024-25 school year (moved by a board member). The superintendent introduced a recommendation to appoint Kristen Mongelli as the new supervisor of science, technology, engineering, design and visual arts, with a mid-January start; the board also approved James Gleeson as interim supervisor until Mongelli assumes the role.
The superintendent reported that the district's August 2024 preschool aid expansion grant application was denied. He said the Department of Education met with district staff on Nov. 4, provided feedback on how to strengthen future applications and indicated the district cannot reapply until August 2025 but will be able to refine its application in the interim.
Recusals and clarifications: Several members recorded recusals on specific line items as noted during roll call; the clerk read those recusals aloud before the votes. The clerk also reported the audit preview will be presented on Dec. 9 and that the most recent inspection results were above 90% in all categories.
What's next: The board set its executive session for Dec. 9, will finalize committee assignments after members submit preferences, and will hold orientations for newly elected members in the coming days.
