Westland City Council approved a special land use and site plan for a drive-through-only 7 Brew coffee at 37201 Warren Road. Planning staff said the parcel complies with parking and drive-through stacking requirements and a certified traffic study found no significant impact on adjacent roadways.
Reid Cooksey, the petitioner’s representative, said the prototype emphasizes throughput (orders placed via phone/app or staff with tablets), has no indoor seating and provides substantial stacking capacity; he said construction could start after permits and that an opening could be expected by late summer if permit review proceeds on schedule. Council members expressed interest in avoiding queuing onto Warren Road, and asked about trash receptacles and the potential need for police traffic management if peak traffic occurs; the petitioner said site stacking and additional island landscaping should mitigate spillover.
The motion to approve passed with planning conditions requiring signage and specified landscape adjustments as recommended by the Planning Commission and administration.
