Supporters of vacating cited the current budget shortfall and the director’s extensive off‑site work, saying the roughly $11,000–$12,000 annual cost of rent and internet could be better used for advertising and events. Opponents pointed to the depot’s historic and visitor‑center value and noted community offers to operate retail or gift‑shop services there.
A motion to provide the city notice to vacate the depot office carried, with members referencing a 30–60‑day notice period to be clarified with the city. Several members said they would revisit the decision if local conditions — such as new hotels or increased visitor traffic — change.
The board adjourned after moving through the remaining agenda items.
