Council approves Medco renewal, a tax-acquired property sale and several routine municipal items

Sale of tax-acquired property: The council considered bids for tax-acquired properties and voted to accept a $59,000 bid from Hart Adams for 83 Blueberry Hill Lane. Councillor Mark Combs moved the motion; Councillor Rusty Greenleaf seconded and the council recorded a unanimous vote to sell the property and return it to the tax rolls.
Medco license renewal: Following a public hearing with no comments, Councillor Tim Cusick moved to approve Medco’s medical cannabis retail store license renewal. The council voted unanimously to renew the license after staff review.
USDA loan/grant authorization: Interim City Manager Denise Brown asked the council to authorize her to sign obligation documentation necessary to pursue a USDA Rural Development loan and grant for the city’s Phase 2 wastewater project. Brown said the total project is $4,200,000 and the city prefers grant funding where available; Councillor Rusty Greenleaf moved the authorization and the council approved it unanimously.
Fuel depot agreement: The council renewed a 10-year fuel depot agreement with the school district (FY27–FY36). Brown said the city contributes $3,000 annually and the school district $7,000, with funds used for capital improvements such as paving and pump replacement; the renewal passed on a unanimous vote.
Other routine votes: The council approved a private road name (Wilcat Way/Little Cat Way) following a presentation from Code Enforcement Officer Chris McDaniel and accepted council meeting minutes for Jan. 21 and Jan. 29, 2026. Council moved into executive session later in the evening under 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(E) to consult with the city attorney on potential action.
