Gardiner council approves routine licenses, minutes and 2026 meeting schedule; interim manager reports EV charger installation

The Gardiner City Council moved through routine agenda items Dec. 3, approving two liquor‑license renewals, adopting prior meeting minutes and setting regular meeting dates for 2026.
Councilor Mark Cohn moved to approve the liquor‑license renewal for Canton Village; the motion was seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. Councilor Sean Dolley moved to approve the liquor‑license renewal for The Bench; that motion also passed unanimously.
Councilor Debbie Kimball moved to approve the council minutes for Nov. 3, Nov. 5 and Nov. 19, 2025; the motion was seconded and approved. The council then adopted its regular meeting schedule for 2026 (first and third Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.) on a unanimous vote after a brief scheduling discussion.
Interim City Manager Denise Brown gave department updates and said the Bailey parking lot across from the library will be closed for a few days beginning Dec. 9 to install six electric vehicle charging stations, with the lot expected to be partially open by Friday and fully reopened by late afternoon (weather permitting). “The chargers will not be immediately ready for use, but will be set up in the near future,” Brown said.
Councilors also praised downtown lighting, the tree lighting and Main Street events.
