The Benton County Board of Supervisors approved a package of routine consent items, including the hiring of Martha Faye as a part-time employee in the land-use/health department, acceptance of a written resignation and several quarterly reports.
Supervisors discussed the candidate for the part-time position and read her qualifications into the record: the applicant holds a bachelor's degree in sustainability science from the University of Iowa and has GIS mapping experience. The board approved a motion to hire Martha Faye at $20 per hour for 32 hours per week with a stated start date in the personnel notes. The clerk called the vote and the motion carried.
The board also accepted a written resignation from part-time dispatcher/communication specialist Whitney Amos effective April 1; the resignation was noted and accepted by motion. Routine financial reports were accepted as presented: the Veterans Affairs General Assistance quarterly report was recorded as having no claims, and the general assistance quarterly report listed three claims totaling $1,648.12 (funeral relief $1,255; Cobblestone Inn $105.28; Urbana Inn $287.84). The county auditor's report of fees (copy fees $71.53; plat book fees $78; total $149.53) was accepted as well. A Class C liquor license renewal for the Watkins Community Athletic Association also passed on voice vote.
